Living active is about lifestyle rather than exercise. Try to integrate more physical activity into your daily routines.

  • Walk more. Find times in your day to add a few minutes of walking. For instance, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk to work or to an errand, or at least park farther away when you drive there. Start a new habit of taking a walk at lunch or in the evening.
  • Suggest active social gatherings. Social events often focus around lunch, coffee, and potlucks. Instead, suggest a walk, hike, or other fun physical activity to do with your family and friends.
  • Play with your kids or pets. They usually love to be active, so take advantage and get yourself moving too!
  • Watch your screen time. If you don’t feel you have enough time for exercise, try cutting down on your screen time. Another idea is to be active while you watch TV. You can use a treadmill or stationary bike, or try walking in place. During commercials you can do strengthening exercises like pushups, situps, and squats.
